CTSU Fairway

The CTSU Fairway is in the beautiful suburban community of Fairway, Kansas, and offers easy access to major highways and interstates and convenient parking. This state-of-the-art facility is staffed by experienced research nurses, medical assistants who support complex protocol procedures and record research data on CTSU generated resource documents/flow sheets.

Clinical Space

  • 9 exam rooms for multi-purpose outpatient evaluations
  • 5 cognitive testing rooms
  • 2 phlebotomy bays
  • 2 isolation exam rooms, designed for smoking cessation or ID studies
  • 8 work stations for visiting study staff
  • Storage for study specific equipment and / or supplies
  • Commercial-quality metabolic kitchen for studies that include the KU Department of Dietetics and Nutrition faculty

Sample Processing Laboratory (CLIA waived)

  • CTSU staff can conduct point-of-care tests such as urine pregnancy or blood glucose tests
  • Sample processing and short-term storage (refrigerated centrifuges, -80F freezers, -20F freezers, YSI STAT Plus, refrigerator, etc.)
  • TUKHS laboratory is located on the 1st floor of the Clinical Research Center building

Research Infusion Unit

  • 11 infusion suites with reclining infusion chairs, television, and Wi-Fi
  • TUKHS Investigational Pharmacy is located on the 2nd floor of the Clinical Research Center building

Exercise Physiology Laboratory

  • Exercise Physiologists are available to assist with study related tasks
  • 2 Metabolic Carts
  • 2 Treadmills, a recumbent cycle, and upper body ergometer
  • Pulse Waive Velocity (PWV) and Pulse Waive Analysis (PWA)
  • Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans to test body composition and bone density
  • 6-minute walk test

Extended Observation Unit

  • 3 hospital-style suites
  • Allows for overnight observation and sleep studies
